Already a Sustainable Jersey Bronze Community, Madison Goes for Silver Certification

The Madison Environmental Commission has just completed its Natural Resource Inventory (NRI), one of the selective steps to achieve the next level of Sustainable Jersey Certification.

NRIs are inventories of a municipality’s  natural resources, which includes both descriptive, data, infographical and map based information of  environmental features. Data can include geology, hydrology, air quality, soils, vegetation, wildlife, open space, recycling, brownfields and relationships to the wider political and environmental region i.e. watershed and related compacts.  Maps are contained a separate document.

A Public Comment Session will be held during the Madison Environmental Commission’s November 3rd meeting, to be held at 7:30pm in the Committee Room on the second floor of the Hartley Dodge Memorial Building at 50 Kings Road in Madison, NJ.

Madison and other North Jersey communities may be receiving help on achieving their respective levels of Sustainable Jersey from North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority’s 2011-2012 work plan bears out.
